macbook pro Please Help My mate Screwed it up

It start with my macbook pro 2011 model.

Numbers 1 to 9 weren't working' as were letters

QWERTYUIO.

my other friend' who is good with computers (well windows anyways) desided to reinstall mac after time machine ect safe mode ect didn't work to fix key board errors.

Long story short he wiped the mac software off it completely.

And did a reinstall via internet/recovery mode. While doing so the internet dropped out and the install froze. We restarted the process of installing the latest mac of via recovery it kept coming up saying it couldn't verify with apple and to contact apple.

He messed around in recovery disk erase and then the mac had a spaz and now when it starts up all it does is display the apple logo and stay on the apple logo. Please Help what has my mate done wrong. Has he fuked it or has the mac told us to bugger off?
