Hi. I sometimes have to create presentations on my MacBook using Powerpoint (I know! Keynote is better and I love it.). I am using Powerpoint 2004 for Mac version 11. I recently discovered that I can't open some powerpoint files on Windows-based computers with Microsoft Powerpoint 2003 Professional Edition, but could open them with a 2002 version. Does this have something to do with the windows version or my Mac? Since I have to share the files with my colleagues, I often have to open the files from someone else's computer (which has a 2002 PPT version) then save the file to a PPT 97-2003 & 95 version just so my colleagues with a 2003 version can open the files. Is there a simpler way to solve this compatibility problem? Hope someone can help me. Thanks!
I'm having the same problem. An error message comes up when I try to download powerpoint presentations from school. I have Office:Mac 2004. What can I do to open the ppt?
Hi. Yes, I did. It says there are no compatibility issues. I can open PPT files created on my Mac on Windows which has 2002 PPT version, but not 2003 version. But here's what I discovered. I can create a presentation on Keynotes, export it into Powerpoint (on my Mac) and still be able to open that same PPT file in a Windows computer, including those with 2003 PPT version. Hope someone can help solve this mystery for me. =(
I am having the same problem. I have a powerpoint file created on my MacBook in Office 2004. When I try to open it in Windows, it says that it can't read it.
I have tried to replicate your problem using two different versions of PowerPoint 2003 on two different computers and have managed to open the files without any problems.
Which specific versions of PowerPoint do you have on the Mac and the PC.
I have similar problems - although I can open files in Windows - even if I initially created them in Windows - as soon as I save them in Mac about 33% of the slides are blank - interestingly enough the text appears in outline mode - but not on the slide itself - its going to pretty much rule out use of ppt on the Mac.
The compatibility report talked of fonts. But I am only using Times New Roman and Arial Narrow.
Something else weird - the file date stamps are wrong.
