Since Sunday whatever content is showing behaves as if the physical display was larger, that is the information overflows top bottom and sideways. Unusable iphone. No recent IOS update. did not change any settings either. Tried resetting too

Sounds like you have enabled Zoom. Double-tap the screen with 3 fingers to disable. Then you can go into Settings>General>Accessibility>Zoom and make sure it is turned off.

Thank you very much, this has solved my problem. I didn't know about the three finger tap, and couldn't access the settings.
