How to connect windows client to Apple calendar server?

Hello

I have a few servers based OSX 10.8 and 10.10 with . Most clients have Macs and they works good. But some clients using windows mail and calendar clients, mostly Outlook and Thunderbird, can't connect to ical and contacts server trough CalDav an CardDav. We tried some 3-rd party conectors and some tutorials how to connect them, but with unsuccessful results. Many connectors ends with various errors about rights or invisible files.

Have you any verified software or instruction, how to connect them for online work?

Thank you

Jiri

Most people in your situation chose to buy and run Kerio Connect on their Mac server. Keri Connect supports Outlook directly as a client, well with a provided plugin. Apple's own Mail and Contacts servers do not support Outlook at all.

Note: Kerio Connect also supports ActiveSync for various mobile devices.

With regards to Mozilla Thunderbird, there is a matching free extension for that called Lightning which adds CalDav support. The following may help How to make iCal server available to Thunderbird Lightning with caldav?

Apparently Thunderbird does not natively support CardDav, another plugin is required for that. See http://davmail.sourceforge.net/thunderbirdcarddavsetup.html
