Problem adding purchased items and anything else to 'recently added' smart playlist

How do I have both 'purchased' items (songs) and other items (songs) in a playlist?

The Example:

I have a smart playlist labelled 'recently added' and it has one rule 'date as' any song last '12' 'months'. And it has all the songs I have added via a cd in the last 12 months.

However, it does not have in it anything I have purchased.

So I add the rule 'purchased' 'true' and it then shows all the items I have purchased but none of the songs that were previously in the list (rule 1 all songs added in last 12 months).

It looks like I can have one or the other.

Is this true?

Why?

Is there a work around?

Thanks,

Dave
