I Get the same turn signals in maps for turning right or left. Either direction I get 3 sets of 2 pings so I cannot differentiate between turning right or left. The apple watch guide says you are supposed to get 12 pings for a right turn Which I am definitely not getting. Anyone else noticing this issue?

I spent approximately 20 minutes with an Apple (Watch) Supervisor. When I explained my issue (which is exactly the same as yours)...she expressed surprise to learn that you are supposed to receive a different number of pings for left and right turns. After a few minutes delay,(to research the issue), she suggested that I power off my watch then un-pair and re-pair the watch with my iPhone. I will try it out tomorrow when I run a morning errand.So far I have contacted Apple Support twice on issues related to the Watch and both times I was very disappointed with the responses I received.
Tthe phone does the communication to the watch regarding Maps (Well most of the time). So make sure your phone is calibrated and is in a hands free car dock & screen facing you. Mine did the same thing until I took my phone out of my pocket and placed it in car phone docking station. May be that might help.
YYes I find that apple support stock solution to any issue with the watch is to unpair from your phone and then pair again. They don't seem to have much knowledge of how the watch is supposed to work. Apple needs to train them better.. I will be interested to see how their solution works for you. I'm not very hopeful that it will work. I think a software update fix is needed.
I did everything they suggested but I still have the same problem. I did notice that when I used Maps while walking I got the correct number of pings when I turned right. I think it's a bug. I will try Kwick2bgr8's suggestion and mount the phone on my hands free car dock.
YYou are supposed to be able to use maps on watch on it's own as long as it is connected to iPhone but shouldn't need to have directions going on phone also
I just got home from a short drive that included 4 right turns. I placed the phone in a hands free holder (facing me) and I still experienced 3 sets of 2 pings on each turn. I think I'll wait for the next update.
