I am having trouble using my audio output to usb from a keyboard to garageband. All of a sudden whenever I record there is intense static and super loud recording. This was not happening before. Please Help!

I have been using an audio jack (earphone jack) to USB cord and have made several recordings from my Yamaha keyboard to my macbook pro. All of a sudden, every time I try to record it records an intensely loud, static mess. I have not had this trouble before. It occurred all of a sudden. What can i do?
