Pages is not responding. When I get the document up with the hourglass search it will not open to work on it.

I have a MacBookPro 9.1 with OS X 10.9. It has 4GB memory. Pages will not open when I click on it. When I find a document with the search it comes up but will not open so I can work on it or print it.

Have you tried opening it from the Applications folder? If that works, your Dock alias is corrupt and needs to be replaced.
