How can I create sub-albums and sub-sub-albums on iPhone? I consider this a fundamental
request in order to get a logical structure into hundreds of photographs. On
Samsung smart-phones under Android this is easily done.

I don't think it's possible using the native Photos app. You might try a third-party alternative app, however.
Does anybody know an app which might support subalbums?

You're very welcome. Personally, I tend to shy away from third-party apps having access to my photos, but that's a personal preference. Glad the app works for you!
I agree with you, Andy. That's why I still hope Apple will someday include sub-album
