How do I delete archived emails in Mail especially gmail emails?
Delete them where you saved them to when you archived them.

I tried that but every time I go into my Mail - Archive and select and delete over 1000 unwanted emails they seem to be reinstalled. I went to the gmail website and tried to adjust the settings....but they keep coming back!!
Try removing the Archive mailbox option on the Gmail website. You can then create an On My Mac mailbox which can be used to archive e-mails.
