Photos sent to email rotate

When I attach a photo to an email it appears upside down. This happened suddenly. I have attached 100s of photos to emails in the past with no problem. I tried rotating the photo to the upside down position in iPhoto and then attaching it, thinking it would reverse. It still appears upside down in the email.
