When I turn my mac on the HD has around 16gb available but after 24 hours it is full and have to restart. Any ideas why?

I think it may have something to do with the internet but don't know how to eliminate this problem other than turning wireless off.

Hi Chris, Thanks for reply. Time Machine is turned off, although I do have External HD's attached. In regard to using up HD, it is an really old Mac with only 120 gb, and that is as empty as I can keep it. It is strange how it seems to fill up such a large amount in 24 hours - or at least think it is, then on restart has disappeared. Some sort of internet temp files maybe but seems a large amount of HD for that????
