backup iphone pictures/video to SD cards

I've backed up photos & video from my iphone to an external hard drive. I don't want to rely solely on an external hard drive (or even just an external hard drive and Cloud storage) and plan to also backup those iphone photos/video to SD cards.

The big questions I have are:

1. Which is the best route to get those iphone photos/video onto SD cards? Is it OK to transfer those photos/video from the external hard drive to SD cards, will photo/video shooting info be lost, will quality of photo/video suffer?

2. Or, is it best to get the photos/video onto SD cards directly from the iphone where they were originally shot?

3. Or, is there no difference & I should simply pick the easiest method?
