How do I permanently delete messages from iPhone 6?  Where do emails go when you "archive" email?

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

     

    From the sound of your question, it seems like when you try to delete a message from your iPhone, you see the option to archive and not the option to delete. The attached link below explains how this behavior can be changed in a Gmail account and also explains what happens when you archive an email. I understand that you may not have a Gmail account, but the steps should be the same for the account you are using. If you are unable to change the behavior, please let me know.
