How can I reinstall OS X if I have lost my recovery CD?

I have a macbook pro running OS X 10.6. I need to reset all factory settings and clear the hard drive, but I am told I need to use the recovery CD that came with the Mac. I have no ida where that is. What else can I do to achieve a full factory reset?
