I can not disconnect from Facetime once connected can anybody help

I have a Mini Ipad with the latest version 8,3 installed, when i sign in to Face Time, I can connect but when I try to disconnect using the red centre button it will not allow me to disconnect, no response at all the second party has to disconect first. Can anybody help
