How can I tell what model Airport extreme I have?
My Airport extreme is overheating. I would like to know what generation of Airport I have. can anyone help?

Open AirPort Utility on your Mac. Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Hold down the option key while you double click on the AirPort Extreme icon
Post back with the Generation model that you have, and we'll provide more information about that specific product.
In general though, 5 years is about all that you can expect from a router designed for home use, if you have a general idea of how old the AirPort Extreme might be.
