Are you asking if 1,000 divided by 1,000 is equal to 1? Because the answer is yes. If you have 1,000 grapes, and you want to separate them by groups of 1,000, how many groups would you need? The answer is 1...

No, the user is asking why they're getting 1 when dividing 1 million by 1 thousand. The uses of the period and comma are reversed in numerical notation in some countries from the way they are used in the U.S.

The reason they're getting what appears to be an incorrect answer is because, when they perform the initial calculation, it appears that nothing changed on the scree, so they hit equal again, thus dividing the answer, 1 thousand by 1 thousand, resulting in one.

well 1000.000 = 1000. so 1000 / 1000 is 1.

If what you wanted to do was divide a million by one thousand, then that would be different.

The period is used as a hundreds spacer (what is the correct word?) and the comma where a North American would use a decimal point in some countries.

This calculator "bug" gets posted on FaceBook or twitter every couple of months and people post here wondering why Apple can't make a calculator that works.
