My ipod touch 5 screen won't turn on, it is completely black. I tried waiting 24 hours for the battery to die so I could recharge it because it worked before but now it won't work and my home buttons broke too
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Will this delete any pictures or damage my ipod or computer?
It may end up erasing the iPod but that is the way it works. It will not damage the iPod. However, the iPod now may have a hardware problem that is causing the not turning on.
So I could lose my pictures and songs? Is there any way to avoid that
Not if erasing /placing the iPod in Recovery mode or DFU mode is required.
If yo have a backup you can restore from backup
If I was to get my home button fixed would I be able to fix the screen then?
Maybe, maybe not. It depends upon the cause of the problem
