How come my iPhone wont let me access my messages?

My phone was charging then suddenly spazzed out and restarted and now I can't access my messages. Everytime I try to open my messages it immediately closes out. I didn't receive this Arabic spam text or anything of that sort. I tried setting the message date to 30 days or whatever but that hasn't done anything. Can anyone help?!?
