Mail on my ipad 2 is frozen with a blank screen for about 30 secs before going back to the home screen. I've close mail and tried rebooting but no joy. Help?

How did you "close" Mail? Did you quit the app like this:
To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the app switcher. Flick up on the page preview of the app you want to quit. The page preview will fly away and disappear. That quits the app.
If you didn't use this method give it a try. After quitting the Mail app reset your device. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

Ralph9430, thank you. I have tried all of these methods but it still won't allow me to enter Mail. I was trying to open a large attachment when it froze and now I just get a blank Mail screen every time I attempt to open it...even after a proper close and reboot.
i ve had the same probleM.first dubbel tap home button. Search the mail app.then you have to swipe the mail app off the screen. So that iT is gone.After that a reboot. This worked for me. I can open my mail app now!
If you can, try accessing the email account from a computer or another email app, Try moving the email causing the issue to a separate folder & out of the inbox. I had the same thing happen to me & cleaning up several large emails fixed the issue. The problem also hasn't occurred since.
