Can i use a MacBook Pro as an external cd drive for my iMac while I install Windows 7 (using Bootcamp)?

If not, any other idea?
I can't use the usb installation (apparently not supported on mid 2010 iMac). Changing Bootcamp's Info.plist (forcing it to recognize usb) isn't working too, because I get the "No Bootable device – Insert boot disk and press any key” error while installing W7.

The dvd drive isn't really working, it can't read most of the dvds and isn't able to write on them.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Remote Disc feature is not supported for installing Windows. You can try

1. Bootcamp without Optical disc drive, or,

Another option you can test, if you have the Bootcamp Partition already created but it is still Fat, you can copy the contents of your DVD to that partition and test.
