iMovie 10.0.8 won't play iMovie 9.0.9 Projects

I found a similar thread to this question, but nobody seemed to solved it..

I can't believe how difficult the transition from iPhoto to Photos and from iMovie 9.0.9 to iMovie 10.0.8 has been.

I am at the point where I have imported the iMovie 9.0.9 projects and all the files are missing. (Understandable, I guess)

So it took me a while, but now I have the NEW photos app library imported into iMovie 10.0.8..It has ALL of my old photos from iPhoto, and the exact photos/movies I used to make these projects..

Now how do I link those files? So that I can have my old iMovie 9.0.9 project into iMovie 10.0.8..

There has to be an easier way. This transition has been nothing but a nightmare, I hope somebody can help

I am running OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.3
