Today the spreadsheet I was using for months turned the spreadsheet a file and the data has turned into its raw form. I cannot access my data, and I would like to know if I can recover the data. Below is what the spreadsheet has turned into. Any assistance would be great.
MacBook, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)
The data is compressed (index.zip: note the zip extension)
You will need to decompress the file.
Thanks for the reply. I unzipped the file, but I am unsure of what to do. This is what I got:
I can't see the top level folder in your screenshot. But I'm guessing that folder has the name of your original Numbers document, something like MyDocumentName.numbers.
If so, then Numbers is no longer recognizing the folder as a "package" (a special type of folder that normally looks like a single "file.")
Sometimes you can fix this by simply changing the extension .numbers to something else. Then change it back to .numbers.
That .zip file within a Numbers 3 package is normal. You don't want to decompress it.

Glad that worked. I have no idea what causes the problem (it doesn't occur often) or why changing the extension to something else and then changing it back to .numbers usually fixes it. But it does.🙂 Thanks for the green tick.
