Is there a way to get my pictures back if I didnt back it up with icloud and I have to restore with itunes?

My friend stole my phone and when I got it back it was disabled and said "connect to iTunes" I'm scared that after I reset it I will loose all my pictures, texts voicemails and everything...I've never backed up my phone with icloud or anything else before, am I able to do something while its disabled to at least save my pictures and is there a way to reactivate my phone without loosing everything?? please let me know asap I'm pretty desperate.
