Popups/ Ads

I have a MacBook Air- just got it about two months ago.

Every time I open up chrome, about 7 different tabs open up (looks like popups, or ads). I downloaded AdwareMedic already and that hasn't resolved it. What can I do to fix it? I tried support on chat, and that's when he suggested AdwareMedic. I've been trying to open chat since then, but nothing is loading.
