Only choice is digital out.
OS 10.10.3, 16 gig memory, 27 " Mid 2011
I removed my faulty external speakers and wanted to switch to my iMac internal speakers but the only selection is Digital Out. Nothing is plugged into my Speaker/headphone. I also did a hard reboot to no avail.

I am sure you have checked but is the output volume turned up in Sound Preferences ?
Yes, I have volume at max, but I need to get " internal speaker " selection first within the output box. The only choice I have is "digital Output" which is the name and type is Optical digital-out port?
Have you tried to go into System Preferences then to Sound and select Internal Speakers.
As I have mention there is no selection for " Internal Speakers " in the sound output menu.
