Q: Slow uploading photos to iCloud

I have a large Photo library (85gb) on my iMac desktop computer. I purchased additional iCloud storage space (200gb) and decided to try the iCloud storage and sharing option. It has been four days since this process started. I have set my energy preferences so that the computer does not go to sleep so that the uploading with continue.

How long should I expect this process to take?

Is there a way to speed things up?

(This is just my Photo library with images taken on my iPhone or my earlier photos, no RAW or large format images files, those are stored separately and catalogued with Adobe Lightroom.)

Thanks for anyone who can share their experience and/or hints to make this process quicker.

Open Activity Monitor and choose the Network tab. See how many bytes per second are being sent. Divide 85.000,000,000 by that number to give an approximate number of seconds for the upload.

It's entirely possible that an 85GB upload could take a number of weeks to complete.
