How to burn iphoto slideshow on a DVD-R to work on Windows XP and/or a DVD player?

Hello fellow Apple-a-trons,

I was hoping someone out there could tell me how to burn a slideshow from IPhoto onto a DVD-R to where I could play it on a Windows XP PC, and then how to burn the same slideshow onto another DVD-R to where it can play in a DVD player. I tried searching the internet for an answer, but was unable to find helpful information, so I have come to you, the Apple community. Thank you for your time, and sorry for such a nooby question.

Your fellow Apple-a-tron,

Export the slideshow from iPhoto, that makes a movie of it.

Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.

Other options:

Burn: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/21992/burn

Toast: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/6351/toast-titanium

But there are lots of others too. Search on the App Store or MacUpdate

Can somebody please explain to me in the most simplest form possible as if it were a "for dummies" explanation on how to properly export an iphoto slideshow in the proper format to where I can burn the slideshow on iDVD to where I can play it on a DVD player. My Macbook Pro has the iDVD application available, so the next thing i would need a simple explanation on is how to burn that DVD file on iDVD on a DVD-R.

Thank you so much,
