iMac Intel using OSXYosemite version 10.10.3

will not accept my passwords for allowing updates. iCloud password is working. Will not let me turn on alternative administrator (we are 2) Will not accept current administrator's password. If I shut down computer, it will prompt me to use the alternative administrator and accept that. Tried unlocking in "users and groups" but can't get in. No idea what else to do after many hours and days trying. Thanks.
