Ipad 2 volume seems stuck on going up, and it wont go away, what do i do??

Ten or twenty minutes ago my iPad 2 dropped into a small puddle of water and it seemed to think the headphone jack was always plugged in and it was just trying to turn up, I researched the problem and then got an answer and fixed it but the volume was still trying to permanently go up, it's getting annoying as I can't watch anything without the volume going up and the volume square is almost always sitting in the middle of my screen showing the volume attempting to rise, please help!
