Remove Family Sharing Previous Payment Options

Hi all,

I am the administrator of a family sharing group. If I remove my husband (soon to be ex!) from family sharing, I understand that he will no longer be able to use my payment method for purchases through apple. Great

My question is - will it default to his previous payment method, which was my credit card - or will he be asked to put in a new payment method, thus meaning he can not access my card.
