One of my friends sent me this
And now messages no longer works. Whenever I aftenpt to open the app it crashes. I've tried restarting, having friends text me. Nothing is working and I would really like to be able to text. Someone please help avoiding a total reset would be nice.

Apple specialists are aware of this issue. Hope they will find the solution soon.
Was it a message that said effective power? If so I had this happen to me and I fixed it with this. Step one manually set your phone date two moths ahead. Step two in iMessage settings, set the keep messages setting to 30 days. Step three let your phone delete all messages. ( your phone wont actually delete your messages it will just let you open your message app, then delete the bad message off your phone. This is what my phone did at least.)Your phone should let you open you iMessage app.

Someone sent me the glitch message but removed the line effective and power as well as the pi symbol and I can no longer open the messages app.
