I have an artwork I bought from a designer. Basically I did it in photoshop and he redid it in Illustrator so I can get vectors.
Now when I try to open the file I get a warning saying..
When I do open the file I get this
When I should get the text on the image below without the background.
I do have this on fontbook
Has anyone gone through this and figured it out?

Hello Eric, thanks for that info. I went ahead and tried every step. I no longer have a duplicate. Still same issue. Ive tried other stuff Ive found online but nothing seems to work. Its frustrating.
You have the correct font, but Illustrator still isn't seeing it.
Being unable to open or close fonts from within Font Book's interface is almost always a sign its database is damaged. This also commonly causes issues such as you are seeing. The font is active, but not all apps are aware of its existence.
Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding the Shift key until you see a progress bar towards the bottom of the screen. You can let go of the Shift key at that point. Yosemite is a bit different. Whether it's a Safe Mode boot or a normal one, you get the same progress bar. It just takes longer to get to the desktop in Safe Mode. So hold the Shift key until you get to the desktop.
OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally. This will clear Font Book's database and the cache files of the user account you logged into in Safe Mode.
Ok, just did the safe boot again. Same issue. I keep on searching possible solutions but I cant find anything I havent tried. Im thinking that maybe the guy who did it used a duplicate font so the file asks for that duplicate? I dont know what else to think.

A duplicate font would be just that - a duplicate. That is, no different from each other in any way.
As Eric noted, I would contact your artist and have them send you the font they used.
Im going crazy, tried everything Ive found.
The designer was.. myself. I did it in photoshop, then send it to a guy to redo it but using illustrator. I got it back and looks exaclty as the one I did in photoshop.
There's gotta be a solution but nobody seems to have it.
