NSNetService proper syntax

I have a domain that I want to use to publish a NSNetservice and ever time I specify the domain the service fails to publish with invalid Domain I have the same problem on the clients trying to connect on the domain. The domain is active and I can get to it. I checked the documentation it only depcits the local specification and states that a . indicates the absolute name. so putting in something like www.myapp.com will not work. Any help would be great.
