Shadowing on MacBook Pro display

Question

HiThese latest days - maybe a couple of weeks - I have had a severe and very ugly shadowing around the windows of each shown application on the display of my MacBook Pro 17 " (Mid 2009) running OS X 10.10.3. Display is set to Default resolution with a Gray desktop. And the shadow is dark(ish) gray.Also to the left side some shadowing from the &#x27;upmost&#x27; application to the &#x27;lower&#x27; one where windows overlap.The only software updates in the period has been Remote Desktop Client Update V3.8.4 and installation of X-Rite ColorMunky V1.1.0.And I have replaced the battery to a new one yesterday.Any ideas of what causes this problem, and how I fix it ??RegardsJohannes Elkjaer Madsen

Consider the possibility of the cause being X-Rite ColorMunky V1.1.0.

The ColorMunki works fine on my iMac, so I don&#x27;t regard this as a suspected culprit. I have been using X-Rite a color management tool on the machine since it was new, the ColorMunki is the result of the old tool not being compatible with Yosemite.Also the problem is the same if I switch to the default display profile.RegardsJohannes

Does this problem persist after logging in as a different user, e.g., Guest?Does this problem persist after starting up in Safe Mode?

There is NO problem when logging in as Guest.There is NO problem when running in Safe mode.But returning back to my usual user (owner and administrator) all the ugliness is back.RegardsJohannes

These results suggest that the problem is either something you installed (Safe Mode does not load third party system extensions), or something you have in your login items (which is not loaded by another user).  One way to see all that is installed is to run EtreCheck.
