Hdmi adaptor not working after update

I recently, finally, I updated my iPad 3. I use an hdmi adaptor to mirror my iPad on my tv and in the past it has worked just fine. Since I ran the update now it works briefly then stops and flashes the message, "this accessory is not supported by this iPad."

is there anything I can do to get this working again? I find it ridiculous that it worked just fine before the update and it works just fine for a few moments then quits and says that it's not supported. If anyone knows of a work around for this problem I would appreciate it.
