Mouse cursor not functioning properly

Hi, i have a late 2013 macbook pro and recently found that whenever i am in full screen in any program (like, for instance, netflix) and wish to access the menu, moving the mouse creates no response. Whenever i exit the fullscreen the mouse works fine but whenever i am full screen with any application, the mouse cursor does not seem to respond... has anyone else got that problem?
