Your Macintosh HD is reporting 107 errors.

Make sure you have a current backup of all of your data.

You need to try and do the disk repair from on your main, internal HD from some other bootable source.

Backup your current system to another external connected and Mac formatted USB, or FireWire 800, Mac formatted hard drive. Then, purchase, install and use a data cloning app, like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper, to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your Mac's entire computer system and data.

Boot off of your new hard drive and use Disk Utility app on the external and try to do a repair of your iMac's internal drive.

If Disk Utility isn't robust enough to clear up these errors, you may need to purchase, download, install something like TechTool Pro that will have a better chance of repairing your Mac's internal HD. You would need to install this to your external hard drive and run TechTool disc diagnostics from the external hard drive.

If TechTool Pro can't fix the errors, then this means your Mac's internal hard drive is failing and you definltely need a current backup and them make an appointment at an Apple Store or Apple authorised repair center and get a free quote for installing a new replacement hard drive and then have the hard drive replaced.

Like the others said, you're drive is showing errors. I'm not sure exactly what etrecheck considers an error to be but the first thing you should do is backup and/or clone. A clone would make a bootable copy. I don't think Disk Utility will necessarily be able to fix drive problems. If you try to do a binary clone using Disk Utility and the drive has I/O errors, it will fail.

You might want to go to the how-to section at:

http://scsc-online.com

and read the article on hard drive problems. They also have another article on cloning, and they make the tool Scannerz. If the errors are I/O errors it's likely the result of a head crash. Some of there articles, somewhere on their site, tell how to correct them by zeroing the drive. I know I saw them there, I just don't remember where. It might be in one of their other downloads.

In any case, assuming the error is a bonafide hardware problem, you might want to consider replacing it with a new drive or SSD. They're so cheap nowadays I don't know if even attempting a repair is worthwhile any longer

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES All Messages

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

View Show Log List

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.

Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.

Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

You should probably start a new thread instead of appending this to an existing thread. I might also recommend putting it in the Yosemite section of the site.

I'm not an etrecheck expert but the one thing that stands out to me is :

"16 processes killed due to memory pressure"

Which tells me you have something using up too much memory. By the looks of some of the other stuff, I would suspect it might be Microsoft related products.

As an experiment you might want to reboot, completely terminate all applications you have running, then see if the problem still exists with Calendar.

Yes, start your own topic.

In the meantime uninstall Avast according to the developer's instructions. It's worthless and slows down performance.

Also uninstall "TuneupMyMac UNKNOWN (missing value)". That type of app does more damage to the system than good.

Once that is done reboot and check the performance. Refund Etrecheck and post in your new topic.
