How do I get contacts on my iPhone to sync over to my Mac?

How do I get contacts on my iPhone to sync over to my Mac? I need this in order for my iMessages and Contacts to update, so that the numbers can be identified. I do not wish to use iCloud as it costs data, also I do not deem iCloud reliable in this aspect. I have even tried using iCloud but it does not work either. I have encountered this issue multiple times, however I cannot seem to find one certain solution as iTunes continues to update.

Thank you for your response! I am glad that there are people in this community trying to find solutions to issues similar to mine. Unfortunately I have already tried this method and it does not work. I am assuming that the only thing I can do not is to take it to an apple store.
