Can't backup my phone to iCloud

I get a message saying "verification failed, the connection to iCloud timed out"

I understand that you are not able to backup your iPhone to the iCloud and are receiving an alert that verification failed. It sounds to me as if your email address may not be verified. If this is the case, please follow the steps outlined in the attached article to resolve this situation.

I see a message that my device cannot back up without a verified email address


  1. Go to My Apple ID.
  2. Select Manage your Apple ID and sign in.
  3. Update the email address listed in your account. Apple will send a verification email to the updated address. Didn’t get the verification email?
