IPOD DO NOT CONNECT

I have an ipod classic 30Gb. I cannot see the icon that it connect to the last version of iTunes with USB. The ipod itself swithes screens on its own between: apple charging - do not disconnect and its menu.!!

The ipod itself plays on its own.

Can anyone suggest a solution? How could I reset the ipod without being able to connect to iTunes?
