Q: I keep getting a green and purple screen when connecting my macbook to my tv

I have a Sony kdl-32ex401 tv and when i connect my Macbook Pro (2011) to it with a thunderbolt to HDMI lead after about 10-1 minutes the tv changes colour to green and purple. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
