My kids each have a MAC. Their rooms are 20' apart and their bluetooth mouse and keyboards keep connecting to the wrong computer. How do i stop this??

You can try and unpair then repair them both to the correct computers one at a time.
I've tried that, seems they keep picking up the other MAC when we change batteries etc. Does the mouse have an unique identifier that could link to to the right MAC long term?
Did you remove the mouse and keyboard from the the list of BT device on the Mac yo do not want them to connect to?
If yo do that they should not connect automatically to the Mac. Yo will have to take action fro them to connect.
Next try deleting the system preferences .plist
