Q: MacBook Black Screen

I have  MacBook1,1 (A1181, Core Duo, White) running Snow Leopard (10.6.8). It works fine while on a stable surface, but when I walk around with it and open it, it's screen turns black. It isn't the backlight because I cannot see a thing. It only turns back on if I hold the power button and reboot the computer. Why is this and how can i fix it!?!?!? Thank you in advance!

    The symptoms suggest a bad connection, possibly the connection to the display.  Open the Macbook and check.

    I Have done that about 3 times. Instead of the screen going black, it will sometimes have a Kernel Panic or restart on its own.

    Run an Apple Hardware Test.  That may offer a clue.

    Based on the symptoms that you have described, I doubt that you are dealing with a software issue (Virtual box or Squirrels).   Take a look at this Apple support trouble shooting article:

    I cannot do an Apple hardware test because I do not have the original CD that came with my MacBook.

    Since you do not have the original install disks, your best option then is to make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar. The evaluation will be FREE.

     

    As a point of information, duplicate installation disks may be obtained from Apple Customer Service.  There is a fee.
