Cannot Access iPad

My dad recently passed away, and my sister gave me his old iPad. I cannot access it b/c we do not have access to the email used as the Apple ID. Are there any work arounds, so I can reset the device?

If it has Settings > iCloud > Find My iPad enabled on it then you will need the account's password to be able to logout of iCloud, or to re-activate the iPad after resetting it.


If you don't know his password then you could try going to an Apple store if you have one nearby, or contacting iTunes Support online, and se if they can remove the iPad from his account - they are likely to want to see proof of ownership e.g. original receipt with the serial number on it, a copy of the death certificate, and potentially that it's been left to you.
