Why does the taken by date change on videos downloaded from icloud photos

I have created video's using my iPhone6 and store them using iCloud Photo Library. When I download them the "Date Taken" changes to the date when the video is downloaded and not when it was taken. Why does this happen and how to I fix/stop this from happening?
