BBBC Iplayer not working properly

I have just bought a new IPad Air, and downloaded the BBC Iplayer App. I am able to watch a programme! but when I close the App and then restart it a second time it opens but only with a blank screen and a loading icon! but never fully loads with all the programmes available to choose. However, if I delete the App and then download it again it does the same thing as before, works once then stops. Any ideas anybody?
