Storage calculation error?

Hi!

So, I recently bought a 13-inch Macbook Pro with Retina Display, and it seems to be I have a storage error. The Macbook is the 128 GB edition, but when I checked the storage, it shows that I've filled 390 GB worth of memory with apps. I don't think this is possible. Is it an error in the calculation of the storage? Or is it just a glitch? Will it affect the performance of my laptop? Is there any way I can fix this error?

Below are my specifications:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)

Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory: 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

Graphics: Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

The attached image shows the storage values I am receiving. User uploaded file

This often happens when Spotlight goes awry. Please try to force Spotlight to re-index the drive. This usually helps.

  1. From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
  2. Click Spotlight.
  3. Click the Privacy tab.
  4. Drag a folder or an entire volume (your hard drive) to the list.
  5. If prompted for confirmation, click OK.
  6. Remove the item or volume you just added to the list by clicking it and then clicking the minus ("-") button.
  7. Close Spotlight preferences.

Spotlight will re-index the contents of the folder or volume.
