Transferring contacts from iPhone 4 to iPhone 3

Hi,

I recently wrecked my iphone 4 by spilling water on it. I have backed it up to my computer through itunes, and I want to use that backup to restore an old iphone 3 that I have. However, apparently you can't use a backup from an iphone 4 to restore an iphone 3... So I'm not sure how to get all my contacts on my iphone 3.

Anyone have any ideas??
